From your description it is hard to think what exactly you would expect from ASA. If you just want to display certain product details, you could do that with ASA2’s shortcode option „value“, see: http://docs.getasa2.com/shortcodes_asa2.html#value
This can also be used to only get the affiliate link, like so: [asa2 value="AmazonURL"]ASIN[/asa2]
If that is not what you mean, please give me some examples.
