Some of you might already have noticed it: After almost two years of hard work and eight month of beta testing, the new version ASA 2 Pro has been released some weeks ago. Subscribers of the ASA Newsletter were the first who got informed.

ASA 2 Pro has been developed with all feature requests of the ASA community in mind. One of the biggest new features is the “Product Repository” (Repo). ASA 2 stores all used products in the form of WordPress Custom Post Types. It serves as a buffer between your server and the Amazon Product Advertising API and boosts the speed of your pages. The best thing of the Repo is that ASA 2 “knows” its products and can prefetch the data with a server-side cronjobs. Together with the template and object cache (which can even be configured for PHP extension “Memcached”), you will never have any extra page loading time due to an Amazon API request. Full control about your products
The Repo is not just about speed. It also allows us to manage Amazon products inside our WP admin like we know it from other custom post types, e.g. with categories and tags. With ASA 2’s new shortcode [smart_colletion] we can access all products in the Repo dynamically based on their properties. For example, to exclude products which are currently unavailable (thus won’t create sales!) we can use this shortcode to just show available items from category “Smartphones”:
You can even set up custom email notification rules to be informed about the status of your ASA 2 Product Repository.
SEO ready
An important factor in the development of ASA 2 Pro is compliance with Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. Therefore ASA 2 Pro is completely compatible with websites connected via https. All product images can be loaded via https, the buy button links to an https page and you even can connect the Amazon Product Advertising API via https.
You can use ASA 2 Pro’s shortcodes inside page titles and SEO plugin metaboxes (currently Yoast SEO).
The beautiful and ready to be used “Managed Templates”, shipped with ASA 2 Pro, are designed responsively what is becoming increasingly important for search engines. Schade, für meinen Geschmack und meine Bedürfnisse leider zu teuer.
Verstehe aber, dass sicher viel Arbeit in ASA 2 hineininvestiert wurde.
20 EUR sind bei mir die Schmerzgrenze.
Habe das sehr anpassungsfähige ASA 1 schätzen gelernt (das leider in der Performance, Cache ? nach einem Update auf Version 1 noch mehr eingebrochen ist und nicht mehr alle Produktbilder läd, trotz mehrmaligem Neuladen) und hatte einen Umstieg auf ASA 2 im Auge.
Ist die Frage, ob man bei einem Preis von 20 oder 59 EUR mehr Kunden erreicht ?!
Berichtige mich, Version ASA 1 läuft im AJAX-Mode sehr gut, keine Performance-Probleme mehr.
Meine Kommentare sollen auch nur eine Rückmeldung sein und können gerne gelöscht werden.
Freut mich, dass du mit ASA 1 zufrieden bist. Für Projekte von einem gewissen Umfang ist es durchaus ausreichend. Viel mehr darf man dann von AJAX-Modus und Caching von ASA 1 allerdings auch nicht erwarten. Und dort beginnt ASA 2 erst. Im übertragenen Sinne gesprochen ist ASA 1 Paint und ASA 2 ist Photoshop. Jeder kann selbst entscheiden, was er machen will und mit welchen Tools er arbeitet.

danke für dein Feedback. Wenn ASA 2 nichts für deine Bedürfnisse ist, verstehe ich das. Und genau für diese Ansprüche gibt es ja auch weiterhin das kostenlose ASA 1.
Qualität hat ihren Preis.
Es sind übrigens nicht Euro sondern US Dollar.
