Hi Timo It would be great if ASA supported a custom template directory that is not a subdirectory of the plugin because those get deleted on every plugin update. It would make life a lot easier if there was a asa_templates directory directly in wp-content/plugins that does not get deleted. Agood example of a plugin that works like that is cforms, there is an extra directory for the custom css files. since the current version the plugin does not overwrite your custom files any more. In the base “tpl” directory there are no files any more. There you can put your custom files. Only in the sub-dir “built-in” are files shipped with the update, but those are – as the folder name implies – built-in templates you should not change. Those get overwritten, not the ones in the root “tpl” directory.
I hope this is what you expect.
Hi Timo The problem is not the files being overwritten but the general update mechanism used in wordpress – it deletes the complete plugin folder and builds it anew from the plugin zip file. I just installed the hotfix version 0.9.9.3 (which came just in time – I was beginning to despair as I thought I had broken my installation 😉 ) and all my custom template files in the tp folder (not the built-in folder) where gone again. This is new to me, I thought WordPress would not delete the whole folder and I think it did not in the past, but maybe I am wrong. I will fix this with a future version and find a reliable way for keeping your templates. One option would be to store them in the database.

I’m trying to figure out how to use custom link text within the ASA tag using the {$Comment} placeholder. I have a template that calls {$Comment} like this:
{$Comment}
This is the shortcode I’m using in my post:
[asa mytemplate comment="Link text here"]ASIN[/asa]
When I preview the post, ASA just loads the default template. Any idea what might be happening?

sorry for my late reply.
I think this is a template problem if ASA does not load your mytemplate file and uses the default. Where did you put your mytemplate.htm file? Does {$Comment} work in your default template?
Thanks for your response. I have my custom template files stored in the tpl folder. I can get the {$Comment} placeholder to work when I add it to the default template, but it doesn’t seem to work when I add it to any of the other built in templates.
For example, I added {$Comment} to the book.htm template and tried to call it using both of these shortcode variations:
[asa comment="Test comment" book]ASIN[/asa]
[asa book comment="Test comment"]ASIN[/asa]
When I do that, the default template loads (with the {$Comment} tag loading correctly).

ich habe aktuell ein Problem mit den Placeholders bzw. ich finde anscheinend nicht den richtigen.
Ich suche folgende Zusammenstellung:
Marke + Name des Modells (Bereich Tablet)
z.B.
Apple iPad mini Retina (16GB)
Für Apple ist der Placeholder: {$Publisher}
Aber mir fehlt ein Equivalent bei “Modell/Serie”, denn {$model} ist nicht das Richtige.
Warum ich das suche und nicht {$title} nehme? Weil ich da dann einen Bandwurm Titel bekomme, wie z.B.:
Apple iPad mini mit Retina display 20 cm (7,9 Zoll) Tablet-PC (ARM A7, 16GB HDD, Wi-Fi, iOS) weiß/silber

ASA 1 kann das nicht. Für ASA 2 ist das ein Kinderspiel. Wie wäre es wenn du am Beta-Test für ASA 2 teilnimmst und diese Möglichkeit testest? Wenn du willst, kontaktiere mich doch bitte über das Support Formular und ich nehme dich in die Liste auf. Wird aber noch ein paar Tage dauern, bis der Test beginnen kann. Ich hoffe, du hast so lange noch Geduld 😉

Ich habe ein vermeintliches “Mini-Problem”, dass ich aber nicht gelöst bekomme.
Ich möchte nur den Preis samt Währung angezeigt bekommen, und das ganze in eine Tabelle implementieren. Das Ergebnis des folgenden Codes ist an sich wie gewünscht:

Jedoch bleibt ein Abstand über und unter dem erzeugten Text, was mir meine schöne Tabelle “zerreißt”. Habt ihr eine Idee wie ich das gelöst bekomme – ich also quasi nur den reinen Text rausbekomme?

Schwierig zu sagen ohne das CSS deiner Seite zu kennen. Hast du mal versucht, alles in eine Zeile zu setzen? Evtl. werden künstliche Umbrüche nach den div Containern erzeugt. Ansonsten schreibe mir mal über das Kontakt Formular und schicke mir einen Link, damit ich es live sehen kann.
Hallo zusammen, der Link zum Download scheint down zu sein. Darüber hinaus wurde meine default_de.htm mit dem letzten Update gelöscht. Ich konnte sie aus der Datensicherung retten, allerdings ist das schon ein wenig schwierig zu handeln falls das nicht die Ausnahme sondern die Regel ist. Im Guide wollte ich nachschauen wie ich die Löschung umgehe. Ich habe hier in den Kommentaren etwas von einem ASA Ordner gelsen wor die Datei gesichert werden soll? Wo finde ich den und gibt es eine Möglichkeit die default_de.htm nach einem Update automatisch zurück zu schreiben? Vor dem Update von ASA 1 gibt es einen Hinweis im Plugins-Backend, dass man seine Templates sichern sollte mit Hinweis auf diesen Artikel https://www.amazon.com/dp//?tag=
Versuche mal, deine Templates im Unterverzeichnis “asa” deines Themes abzulegen (das Verzeichnis musst du selbst anlegen). ASA schaut auch dort noch Templates. Oder auf ASA 2 umsteigen, damit gehören diese Probleme der Vergangenheit an.
Danke für die schnelle Rückmeldung. Habe die default_de.htm in den Ordner /theme/mytemplate/asa eingefügt und aus der build-in gelöscht. Funktioniert bestens 🙂
